At Ardattin Community Hall · Ardattin, Co. Carlow, R93 DX54
Ardattin Community Group has secured Heritage Council funding to develop restoration plans for the village community hall, and they are putting the work in front of the village on the closing Sunday of Heritage Week. The package includes surveyed architectural drawings, a 3D visual walkthrough and imagery showing the proposed enhancements to the hall’s historic features.
Conservation architect Paul Osborne will be on site with display boards, the project plans and the 3D virtual model, so this is a chance to see the detail and put questions to the person who drew it rather than read a summary later. The group has deliberately timed it to coincide with the annual community barbecue, which means the hall is open, the food is on and the whole village turns up anyway. It is the kind of event that decides whether a restoration project gets local backing, and outsiders with an interest in conservation are welcome.
