At Barrow Brew · Milford Weir, Milford, Co. Carlow
The Carlow Elite Acro Fund has put together a Sunday morning fundraiser at Barrow Brew, the cafe at Milford Weir on the River Barrow south of Carlow town. Connie Byrne leads a one hour yoga class from 10am, and a bake sale runs alongside it, so people who would rather buy a tray bake and drink coffee by the water than get on a mat can still turn up and contribute.
Every euro raised goes towards Tara and Clara, two young athletes from the club who are representing Ireland at the World Championships in Italy in September. Travel, entry and kit for an international championship fall largely on the families and the club, which is what these morning events are for. The class is a single hour, so it suits people who want to drop in, take part and be back out again before lunch. Booking is through Eventbrite, which is also where the current ticket price is shown, and refunds are accepted up to seven days before the date.
Milford sits on the River Barrow between Carlow town and Leighlinbridge, reached on the R705 south from Graiguecullen or north from Leighlinbridge. It is a small village, roughly a ten minute drive from Carlow town centre, and the weir and old mill buildings are the landmark you are aiming for. Parking is limited to what is available at the weir and along the village road, so car sharing helps on a busy morning. There is no regular bus service into Milford itself, so drive or arrange a lift from Carlow town.
