On Friday 30 October 2026, the Johnston Building in Armagh’s Shambles Yard hosts a Halloween-themed evening artisan market from 4pm to 8pm.
The market is part of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s 2026 touring artisan market programme, expanded this year from nine markets to fourteen across the borough. Local makers and producers trade from stalls in and around the Johnston Building, with priority given to traders based near the host town. Council documents describe the strategy’s purpose as delivering “an enhanced market offering that builds capacity, supports traders, and strengthens local communities,” with stalls in 2026 covering hot food, baked goods, jams and chutneys, candles, stationery, flowers and other handmade products. The evening Halloween slot, running from 4pm into the dark at 8pm, gives the historic Shambles Yard a different atmosphere to its daytime markets earlier in the year, which included Armagh’s Bluesfest market at the same Shambles Yard venue in August. This is the last artisan market of the 2026 season to take place in Armagh itself; the touring programme closes out the year with Christmas light switch-on markets in Banbridge, Dromore, Lurgan and Portadown in November.
The Johnston Building, Shambles Yard is at 2 Cathedral Road, Armagh City, Co. Armagh, BT61 7QX, in the city centre.
Armagh is built around two hills, each topped by a cathedral called St Patrick’s, about ten minutes’ walk from the Shambles Yard. The city is also the centre of Northern Ireland’s orchard county; come back in October for the wider Armagh Bramley apple and cider season if the market whets your appetite.
