At Multiple venues across Armagh city · Market Street, Armagh, Co. Armagh BT61 7BW
Only the published dates are confirmed for this programme.
The Armagh Georgian Festival runs a performing arts and theatre strand from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 November 2026, alongside the wider festival’s street markets and living history across Armagh city centre.
Armagh Courthouse hosts Mock Trials over the festival weekend, a costumed, dramatised take on 18th-century courtroom proceedings performed for a ticketed audience. Behind Bars, a guided tour of the old gaol, is presented in the same in-character, theatrical style. Costumed street performers work the city centre throughout the four days as part of the festival’s living history programme, which runs alongside Northern Ireland’s largest festive artisan market. In the evenings, a Georgian Light Show combines light, music and special effects across the city centre. Two ticketed dining events, a Georgian Banquet called Courting and Confections and a Georgian Wedding Breakfast, add a further performed, in-character element to the weekend.
The performing arts events are spread across Armagh city centre, including Armagh Courthouse on Market Street. Address for the wider festival: Market Place, Armagh, Co. Armagh BT61 7BW.
Armagh is built around two hills, each topped by a cathedral called St Patrick’s, about ten minutes apart on foot. The Mall, a racecourse until Archbishop Robinson bought it in 1773, is now a Georgian-edged park with the courthouse at one end and the county museum on the side, a short walk from the festival’s theatre venues. Much of the Georgian city centre around it is Robinson’s own work; he arrived as archbishop in 1765 and rebuilt the city around the library, the observatory and the Mall.
