The Diocese of Down and Dromore runs a one year Bible course at St Saviour’s Church of Ireland in Dollingstown, near Craigavon, split into three modules of ten weekly sessions each. Module One begins on Tuesday 29 September 2026 and runs through to Tuesday 8 December 2026, surveying all 27 books of the New Testament and looking closely at the life of Jesus and the growth of the early church. Sessions are led by Dr Keith Gardiner, a Diocesan Lay Reader and former university lecturer, alongside Revd Stu Armstrong of Craigavon Parish Church. The course is popular locally and open to anyone with an interest in studying the Bible in more depth, whether or not they have done any formal theological study before.
Each session runs for two hours in the evening, combining teaching with group discussion, and no homework or preparation is expected between sessions. Every week stands reasonably well on its own, so occasional attenders are not left behind if they miss a class. The course is part of a wider programme of adult faith education run across the diocese, aimed at giving parishioners and interested members of the public a structured way to engage with scripture beyond what a Sunday sermon can cover. Numbers are generally kept manageable enough for everyone to take part in discussion rather than simply listening to a lecture.
Module One: every Tuesday from 29 September to 8 December 2026, 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Venue: St Saviour’s Dollingstown Church of Ireland, 64 Belfast Road, Craigavon
Fee: £30 for the module, payable on the first night
