Country Girl, billed as Ireland’s first contemporary country musical, runs at The Market Place Theatre and Arts Centre in Armagh from Wednesday, 11 November to Saturday, 14 November 2026, with performances at 8pm each night.
The musical comes from the pen of Emma Heatherington, an Irish Times and UK No.1 bestselling author. When singing star Luke Adams walks into Rosie Ryan’s small-town pub one night, their worlds collide in a story of love, heartbreak and the search for home. The score is made up of brand-new country songs written by Heatherington with Johnny Brady, Catriona O’Sullivan, Matt McGlinn, Dominique Mullin, Jim McKee, David McCrory, Pauric Mohan of All Folk’d Up, and Caoimhe Loughran, blending Nashville-style country with an Irish setting. The show runs for approximately 2 hours 30 minutes and is staged in the theatre’s Main Auditorium. The Market Place Theatre’s booking page lists all four dates as fast-selling, so early booking is worth it for anyone set on a particular night.

Armagh’s centre is largely the work of Archbishop Robinson, who arrived in 1765 and rebuilt the town in Georgian style, laying out the Mall and its terraces and founding the public library and observatory. English Street and Market Street, close to the theatre, have restaurants and bars for before or after a show. There is more to see in Armagh and across Co. Armagh.
