What to Expect

App Attack is Carrickmacross Library’s weekly hour on the digital side of the library service, running every Tuesday from 11am to 12pm. The next session is Tuesday 18 August 2026. It is free and there is no booking.

The session walks through the apps that come free with a public library card and shows people how to get into them on their own device. That means ebooks and audiobooks, digital newspapers and magazines, and the online learning and reference resources that most cardholders never discover because they are buried behind a login. Staff do the setup with you rather than at you, so you leave with the thing working on your own phone or tablet rather than a leaflet about it. It suits anyone who has been meaning to try the digital library and stalled at the sign-in, and it is a useful hour for people who want to read newspapers without a subscription or pick up a language or software course free. If you do not have a card, joining at the desk is free and takes minutes. The library calendar confirms App Attack continuing weekly through October and into November 2026.

Getting There

Carrickmacross Library is in the town centre in south Monaghan, on the N2 about 90 minutes north of Dublin and 20km south of Castleblayney. There is on-street parking and public car parks close to Main Street, and the library is a short walk from the bus stops on the Dublin to Monaghan corridor, so it is reachable without a car from Dundalk, Ardee, Castleblayney and Monaghan town. Branch opening hours differ by day, so check the library’s times if you are travelling from outside the town.
